She Had the Color Palette, He Had the SoundtrackOnce upon a time—before dating apps, swiping right, and knowing exactly what we were doing with our lives—there were two slightly mischievous almost-twenty-somethings, a few mutual friends, and a Fourth of July fireworks show at the University of Redlands.That’s where I first met Gabriel.He was there with friends, completely unbothered and, much to my disappointment, seemingly not interested in me at all. I, on the other hand, saw him and pretty much immediately decided, Oh… I like that one.Luckily, life gave me another chance.Not long after, we crossed paths again at a party at Gabriel’s house. This time, I arrived in a little black dress and cardigan—or what I believed was a little black dress. In hindsight, it may have technically been a nightgown. Apparently, that was all it took. I finally caught his attention.From there, we became inseparable. Our early days were filled with friends, music, house parties, late nights at parks listening to Gabriel play, and endless conversations about life while we were still trying to figure out what ours would look like.Then came Sevilla.After a night out with friends, Gabriel took me to the rooftop club above the Spanish restaurant, where we danced under the night sky. Somewhere between the music, the dancing, and Gabriel very determinedly finding his way over to me, he finally kissed me, that was it. I was hooked.Our story was never conventional. We were young. We grew up together, made mistakes together, found our way back to each other more times than we could count, and learned—sometimes the hard way—how to become the people we wanted to be.A couple of years into our story came our greatest adventure of all: Dean. We couldn’t even agree on his name until he was born, because of course we couldn’t. But the moment Gabriel chose “Dean,” it was perfect. Suddenly, while we were still learning how to grow up ourselves, we were responsible for raising this incredible little human together and somehow, we did.Over the years, the three of us became a family while Gabriel and I became better versions of ourselves. He is the soft place to land—the musician, the writer, the thinker, the one who listens without judgment and makes people feel safe. I am the artist, the dreamer, the fiercely loyal one, usually armed with a plan, an opinion, and enough determination for both of us.We are different in all the ways that somehow make sense.Nearly two decades after those Fourth of July fireworks, the boy who barely noticed me and the girl who wore a nightgown to a party are finally getting married.It may have taken us the scenic route to get here, but then again, we were never very interested in doing things the traditional way.If our story has taught us anything, it’s that some people simply keep finding their way back to one another.We always did and always will.

Rylee came into our lives and immediately felt like family. We met about a year ago when she was seeking a fresh start in her career as a hairstylist, and almost instantly we clicked—she quickly became an indispensable assistant, a trusted friend, and someone who seems to understand what we need before we say it. Our bond grew into a mix of mentor, friend, and family; I came to love her like a daughter and gained a wonderful friend in the process. Gabriel adores her and her beautiful MIMI (Grandmother). Though our time together has been short, her warmth and steady presence made choosing her to stand beside us an easy decision.

Ashley has been family from day one—steady, brilliant, and always ready to help. As a lawyer she pairs a sharp mind with a huge, caring heart, and she somehow makes multitasking look effortless. From paperwork and research to the countless behind-the-scenes tasks for our wedding, Ashley has been indispensable. She also gave us two of our favorite people, Nora and Claire, who feel like perfect additions to our family. We’re so grateful to have Ashley—and my brother—by our sides.

Ashley Mulhorn 

Kristina has worked with France’s for almost eight years. From day one they were work besties and over time our friendship grew into so much more. Kristina loves Frances’s kids, admires her talent as a hair artist, and adores her whole family—Frances has always had Kristina’s back. She brings joy to every room, loves to dance, and is genuinely one of the happiest people Kristina knows. Frances’s warmth, creativity, and steady friendship made her an easy choice to stand by Kristina on the wedding day.

Sophia joined the salon about two years ago as Lauren’s assistant and quickly became so much more—an incredible artist, a patient listener, and the teammate everyone leans on. She’s the person you can count on for a hug, a pep talk, or the perfect bit of encouragement when you need it most. Sophia’s kindness and steady presence have made Kristina so proud, and she can’t wait to see Sophia start a family one day. We’re honored to have her standing with us.

Sophia Strivers 

Danae is the life of the party—her energy is unmatched and she’s been a constant spark in Kristina’s life for the past seven years. They first met through Danae’s sister, Darisa, who was Kristina’s very first assistant, and their instant work-friendship grew into a true “work wife” bond. Danae is a salon coordinator, a devoted mother, and the kind of person who lights up any room. She’s talented—spray tans all the salon’s hottest clients, makes the best coffee, and brings warmth and laughter wherever she goes. Kristina loves Danae’s brilliance, loyalty, and the effortless way she supports everyone around her; we’re so honored to have Danae standing with us on our wedding day.

Marissa is Kristina’s cousin and someone she’s always felt a special closeness to. From childhood, but Marissa stood out—sharing values and a quick, kindred connection. A passionate activist, she pursued studies up in Northern California and keeps pushing herself to grow, learn, and show up for others. Marissa is a joy to be around whether you’re talking music, politics, or movies; she’s bold, fiercely loyal, and a protector. We love her honesty and drive, and we’re so grateful to have Marissa standing with us on our wedding day.

Marissa Ornalas 

Dean is Kristina Gabriel’s son and The Best Man — a kind, faithful, and joy-filled presence in our lives. At 17, he already radiates positive energy and a quick wit, with a deep love for anime, games, Godzilla, and movie trivia that keeps family movie nights lively. Dean is a man of faith who treasures attending church with his Nana and brings that steady faith into everything he does. He’s thoughtful, fiercely loyal, and always cheering us on; we couldn’t imagine walking down the aisle without him by our side.

Jeff is Kristina’s brother and one of her closest people—an exceptionally talented pilot whose career has ranged from flying celebrities to performing aerobatics, and now using his skills to transport hearts to people in need. Kristina treasures the memories of riding along during his aerobatic displays and loves watching his kids grow up; being part of their lives means so much to her. Warm, daring, and endlessly dependable, Jeff is one of her favorite people to have by her side.

Jeff Mulhorn 

Adrian has been Gabriel’s best friend and confidant for years—steadfast, loyal, and endlessly entertaining. They’ve shared countless trips, late-night jam sessions, and inside jokes that never get old. Adrian’s musical talent and deep knowledge of music have inspired Gabriel more times than we can count, and his quick wit makes every gathering better. He’s also a devoted friend to both Gabriel and Kristina (their dogs included), always ready to help or keep the mood light. We’re so grateful Adrian will stand beside Gabriel as Best Man.

Dwayne is Gabriel’s brother and a constant pillar in his life—steady, dependable, and always ready to help. A devoted dad to four kids he adores, Dwayne balances parenthood with entrepreneurship and currently manages the household while building his business. His varied experience includes serving as a corrections officer in the National Guard, and he’s also known for his skill customizing cars. Whether offering practical support, a listening ear, or a laugh, Dwayne has always been there for Gabriel. We’re so grateful to have him standing with Gabriel on our wedding day.

Dwayne Ford 

Eddie has been Gabriel’s best friend since their first day of high school. They formed a band with Eddie’s sister and played all over town, sharing late nights, road trips, and countless rehearsals. Eddie’s love of music, movies, and anime created a bond that’s as deep as it is constant—he’s been there for every high and low, offering honest advice and infectious enthusiasm. Gabriel values Eddie’s cultured perspective and steady friendship, and they can always be found trading favorite tracks or debating films. We’re so grateful to have Eddie standing with Gabriel on our wedding day.

Juanita has been by Kristina’s side since day one—caring for her and never leaving her side. She is retired from teaching kindergarten for over 40 years and was in the newspaper for her recognition in the community. She is famous in the family for never attending high school yet has two masters degree. Kristina lovingly looks after Juanita now, offering steady support, wisdom, and constant devotion. Her presence means the world to Kristina, and having Juanita celebrate with us is a true honor.

Juanita Chavez 

Juanita has been Gabriel’s steady, loving presence from his earliest days. A retired RN, she cared for patients with compassion for years and now enjoys a happy, active life with her daughter Kenya, who lovingly helps care for her and their tiny, adorable dogs. Juanita’s warm laugh, kind soul, and generous spirit have always anchored Gabriel—he’s proud to have her stand with him on the wedding day.

Carol is a multitude of lives woven into one warm, steady presence. She raised Kristina with care and determination, balancing early motherhood with learning new skills—first following her sister christina‘s example into hairstyling, then supporting the family as a devoted wife to Jeff Mulhorn, and later training as a Medical assistant and teaching at a trade high school. She mentors young students pursuing medical careers, loves her three grandchildren fiercely, and always finds ways to support family and community. Carol’s generosity, resilience, and gentle guidance have shaped Kristina’s life; we’re honored to have her stand beside us on our wedding day.

Jeff has been a pilot for over 40 years and brings that steady, adventurous spirit to everything he does. A multitalented worker—, flight instructor, and now aeronautical mechanic—Jeff taught both his children to love the sky (he bought his son his first plane) and even helped his son earn a pilot’s license before a driver’s license. He’s a devoted grandfather to all three grandchildren, quietly generous, and endlessly kind. We’re proud to have Jeff, Kristina’s dad, standing with us on our wedding day.

Gabriel has been a dedicated registered nurse for over 25 years and now enjoys retirement, where his favorite role is doting on his grandchildren. He is a proud father of two—Gabriel and Joanna—and a devoted grandfather to Dean (17) and August (1). Known for his steady presence and caring nature, Gabriel loves spending time with family and helping whenever needed. We’re honored to have him stand with us as Father of the Groom.

Nora is Kristina’s five-year-old niece and our beloved flower girl. Bright, curious, and endlessly energetic, she’s already one of the smartest kids we know. Nora adores dinosaurs, Legos, princesses, and anything horse-related—she takes horse riding lessons and is obsessed with gymnastics. She showers Kristina and Gabriel with love and excitement, and her playful spirit and big heart make her presence on our wedding day truly special.

Claire is our spirited flower girl—two years old, adventurous, mischievous, and endlessly curious. She adores following her big sister’s lead, testing boundaries, and making everyone laugh with her bold personality. Claire brings energy and joy to every room; we love our new addition and can’t wait to have her sprinkle petals and smiles on our wedding day.

Mario quickly became one of Gabriel’s closest fishing buddies after Gabriel took up fishing—what started as shared trips turned into countless evenings of laughter, troubleshooting, and learning. If you ever get lost in the middle of nowhere with Mario, he’ll find a way to get you back, feed you, and make sure you’re warm; his curiosity means he’s always learning and ready to teach, and his knack for knowing (or finding out) the right answer keeps everyone grounded. Gabriel and Kristina are so grateful for Mario’s steady friendship, practical wisdom, and big heart.
